Letter to the Community (06-Sep 2025)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of Allah (SWT) and the support of our community, we have made strong progress in the Smithfield Islamic Cemetery project.
Since the start of this journey, we have already sold almost 350 plots , and those who paid in full have had their plots officially registered in their names, giving them full ownership and authority.
Others are supporting through instalment plans, which is also helping the Muslim community in SA to achieve its goal of securing 1,000 plots within our 5-year agreement with the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority.
From August 2025, the official price of each plot has increased from $5,400 to $5,600 plus GST.
However, to encourage and reward early support, the Society is offering our community the opportunity to purchase plots at the old price of $5,400 plus GST until 30 November 2025 .
We must remind everyone that Islamic burial plots are becoming increasingly expensive, and prices are rising dramatically. This is why we strongly advise families to secure their plots as soon as possible, while our 5-year agreement with ACA is still in effect.
In addition to buying plots for yourselves and your families, we invite community members to help the Society by:
• Purchasing a plot now and keeping it for future use. Even if you don’t need it immediately, you may later transfer it to another Muslim family, or the Society can assist in finding a suitable family in need.
• Contributing towards the Society’s goal of 1,000 plots by purchasing additional plots on behalf of your family, relatives, or as a sadaqah jariyah, so that this project succeeds for the entire Muslim community.
Either way, it will be a win for the Muslim community, providing security, dignity, and affordability for future generations. We ask Allah (SWT) to reward all those who have already contributed and to make this project a source of ongoing sadaqah jariyah for everyone involved.
