Al Salam Festival
Al Salam festival is a not for profit project with the purpose of creating awareness of the Muslim community and Islam. This will be achieved through providing entertainment, food and informative activities that will allow people to grasp a general perspective of the religion and address any queries they may have.
The Islamic Society aims to address the stereotypes of Islam perceived by the public as a religion of violence and anger. it hopes to bring Muslims and the broader community together to share, discuss and enjoy the multicultural society that our nation is. The proposal is to celebrate this festival by engaging the wider community with traditional foods, exciting rides, innovative fun and educational show bags, live entertainment from around Australia, innovative and informative stalls and much more.
Fast gaining the reputation as one of the pre-eminent multicultural events on Adelaide's calendar, the annual festival is proudly supported by a three-year grant under the South Australian government’s Department for Communities and Social Inclusion’s Celebrating Diversity program.
This years festival had More than 120 volunteers assisting and 6,500 spectators in attendance, and the event was covered by the local newspaper and television station. We are anxiously looking forward to even greater success at next year’s event, which is be held on January 28th 2017 from 11 am to 6pm at Veale Gardens, Adelaide 5000
